Cruises P&O from Australia stopping by Dili have already become a regular occurence. I’ve seen at least 3 of them, but nevertherless every visit is still a huge event for Timor Leste. Imagine 1700 mostly old white folks strolling around the capitalpaying double price for everything and followed by swarms of street sellers and taxi drivers.
This time the organizers arranged a special local goods fair next to the poshest restaurant in Timor – El Legendario (smart move from the restaurant’s owner). They called it – a festival Taste of Timor. Local dancers, musicians and traditional Tais weavers added greatly to the mood of the fest. In general everything was pretty cool and I was happy to see more and more local producers, some of which I hadn’t met before.
