Jewel beetle on Liquica beach

I met this guy on the beach of Liquica and was amazed by it’s slylish colorful outfit – a yellow bottom and metallic top. I’d been watching it climb a tree akwardly for about 15 minutes after which it just spread the wings and flew away very slowly and awkwardly  as well. I haven’t the slightest idea how they survived millions of years with such poor locomotion skills. My only guess would be they’re not that delicious.

I tried to google its species and most probably it’s a Jewel beetle from the family Buprestidae which comprises more than 15000 known species living mostly in the tripics and subtropics.
